Today is Veterans Day- While Veterans Day may recognize those who made the ultimate sacrifice, Veterans Day is largely intended to thank living veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all those who served—not only those who died—have sacrificed and done their duty." Specifically, Veterans Day acknowledges those who have served in times of peace as well as during war.
Ever wonder why Veterans Day is on the 11th and does not change? World War I ended on the eleventh month on the eleventh day on the eleventh hour.
If you know, or see a Veteran today, or any day, please take a moment to thank them for their service.
This week is World Kindness Week! In honor of kindness and inclusion, we are having a spirit week dedicated to just that! Today- TEAM UP against bullying with jersey day! Tomorrow- Kindness can’t HIDE, with Camo Day! Wednesday- Put bullying to REST, it’s Pajama Day, or wear your Kindness Shirt. Thursday- TWIN… where have you been? You are not alone! Twin and group day! Friday- Celebrate all emotions with Inside Out Day. Wear your clothes inside out.
Today is also- Manners Monday! Be mindful of your manners and be extra polite today. Please, thank you, excuse me, waiting your turn, showing patience, holding the door, presuming positive intentions. Today is a great day to focus on your manners and make a difference at HCMS.
Kindness Shout-out goes to... Mrs. Jenkins! She is a glowing example of inclusion and kindness. Mrs. Jenkins makes a huge difference at HCMS through her way of making people feel welcomed and valued. We are so grateful to have you. Your impact is felt all throughout the building!
Bridge Building is cancelled today, we will meet as scheduled on Thursday.
Band members-your concert is this Thursday HERE at the middle school. Please arrive to the band room dressed in concert uniform by 6:30; the concert will begin promptly at 7:00.
Student Senate- you have a meeting tonight right after school in the Library until 4:00. Please be sure your ride is here on time.

The Theatre Production of Honk was this past weekend. Congratulations to all cast members, you were amazing. Also, thanks to all staff who helped out with this production.
Students-There are free books in the library. Stop by, with permission from your teacher, and take a look.
Attention all theater lovers! Auditions for the spring musical are open to 6th-12th graders. They will be at the high school in early December. Audition packets MUST be picked up and completed to audition. There are musical excerpts to practice, so get your packets early! See the flyers around the school or email Ms. Hurley for more details. In Sports- This weekend the 7th and 8th grade girls Jr. beaver's basketball teams headed to Marshall for their first games of the season. 7th grade won in overtime against Marshall and lost to an aggressive Olivet team. The team started off strong around the hoop, had solid defense and knocked down big shots. 8th grade played well beating Leslie and losing the next game to Marshall. Next weekend the 7th grade team plays at Lakewood and 8th grade will play in Maple Valley. Good work ladies!
