5th Grade
Welcome to middle school! One of the biggest indicators for success in 5th grade is being organized. It is especially important that you have all of your materials with you when you come to school. They should be organized and easy to transport when you are working at home. Therefore, you will need the following items, please bring them to school with you EVERY day.
For each student to keep in locker:

2 one-subject notebooks
WIRED HEADPHONES - cheap earbuds are best because they are easy to take to classes. They cannot be Bluetooth
Small package of multi-colored highlighters
Ticonderoga pencils. This brand sharpens best! Keep some in your locker and some at home.
Handheld pencil sharpener with container to collect shavings
For classroom. Please give to your child’s homeroom teacher:

Sixth grade is a great time to start using a backpack to carry your binders, folders, books, and homework back and forth between home and school. Backpacks are to be kept in lockers during the school day.
Large Trapper Keepers or zippered binders are not recommended. These have not proven to keep students more organized. We have found that they overwhelm students, and there is not enough room for notes, assignments, and notebooks for all classes.
