In Sports News –
On Wednesday afternoon, the Harper Creek ladies track team had a strong showing this week, with athletes delivering impressive performances across multiple events and dominating over Pennfield with a score of 111-38. Here are some of the highlights:
Sprints
- In the 70m Dash, Bristol Latimer placed 1st with a time of 9.82 seconds, setting a new personal record. Ashanti Wilson took 2nd with a personal best of 10.12.
- In the 100m, Carsen Bunker finished 3rd, running a personal best of 14.84.
- Alaina Kirkpatrick won the 200m Dash with a time of 26.76, a new personal best. Ryker Long placed 3rd with a time of 30.56, also a PR.
Mid-Distance & Distance
- Ella Brannen placed 1st in the 400m with a personal best of 1:04.73. Abby Miller and Mya Mattens placed 2nd and 3rd, both setting new personal records.
- In the 800m, Carsen Bunker finished 1st with a PR of 2:42.13, followed by Anna Loritz in 2nd and Marissa Demorest in 3rd, both also with strong performances.
- Anna Loritz led the 1600m with a 1st place finish in 6:22.05. Lyla Zumer and Abigail Cook followed in 2nd and 3rd, both achieving personal bests.
- In the 3200m, Marissa Demorest placed 1st with a time of 13:36, a new PR. Abigail Cook placed 2nd.
Hurdles
- In the 55m hurdles, Lilyan Gandy placed 1st with a personal best of 10.86. Adeline Higgs took 2nd with a time of 11.20, also a PR.
- Gandy and Higgs also placed 1st and 2nd in the 200m hurdles.
Relays
- Harper Creek relay teams placed 1st in the 4x100 (57.52), 4x200 (1:59.60), 4x400 (4:31.28), and 4x800 (11:29).
Field Events
- Adeline Higgs won the shot put with a throw of 33'7", a personal record. Ella Bushman placed 3rd with a throw of 23'9", also a PR.
- Ella Brannen took 1st in the high jump, clearing 4'10" for a new personal best. Holland Van Dussen and Katie Duckworth placed 2nd and 3rd.
- In the long jump, Abigail Cook placed 2nd with a distance of 13'5", a PR.
Keep up the good work ladies and let’s keep building on these results! The girls will battle Parma Western and Coldwater next Wednesday in Jackson. Good luck!
HCMS tennis brought home a win last night against Pennfield. Overall the team won 12-4! Our MVP’s were Logan Messenger, Quinn Baker, Ishmael Capman, Bella Baker, Harper Kline, Adam King, & AJ Yates. Congrats to the team on a great win!
