In sports- The 8th-grade girls' basketball teams hosted Marshall last night. The B team lost 13 to 27. The top scorers were Aubrey Corbin with 8 points and Payton May with 5 points. The A team also fell short of a win, losing 18 to 36. The top scorers were Adeline Higgs and Carsen Bunker with 5 points apiece. The 7th grade B girls' basketball team started the year with a 39-11 win over rival Marshall. It was a great team effort as 6 of the 9 players scored. Jazmin Landenberger led the team with 18 points. Hailey Green added 8. Acariel Nelson scored 6. Adi Waterson had 4 points. Annabelle Shea had 2 and Briella Fri added 1. Congratulations ladies. Practice will be at the administration building after school. The 7th grade girls' basketball team kicked off their season on the road against rival Marshall Redhawks. The 7A team battled against Marshall from tip-off to finish and earned a win 34-16. It took a little bit for the Beavers to find their groove but once they did, they controlled the game with their tenacious team defense. It was great to see the girls respond to each mistake by bouncing back together. Each player made great contributions with scoring leaders Isa Stanley with 16 points, Lily Gandy with 6 points, and tremendous defensive effort by Kinsey Jozwiak and Lyla Zumer.
Cheerleaders head to Thornapple Kellogg tonight for a meet and Wrestling begins their season at Marshall. Good Luck to all our teams tonight.
