Health and Wellness

Studies have shown a direct relationship between health status and the ability to learn. Through education and prevention, we can promote health in our children, which increases their chance to learn and be successful. For the health and safety of everyone:

  • You are asked to monitor your child’s health daily at home by checking for fever and symptoms of illness and to KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME IF they experience any of the  following:
    • A fever at or greater than 100.4 degrees
    • Vomiting and or diarrhea
    • Rash, especially with a fever or behavior change
    • Coughing up phlegm and or frequent sneezing or severe runny nose
    • Difficulty breathing
    • Unable to eat
    • Headache with aches and pains
    • Yellowish drainage and/or redness to eyes, which may be an indication of pink eye
    • Sore throat with fever, large tonsils, presence of white spots in the back of the throat, or redness and swelling to the throat.

Contact your child’s health care provider for advice and notify your child’s school building of any symptoms. If your child becomes sick at school, please be prepared to have them picked up within the hour. The following are guidelines for when your child may return to school after being ill:

  • After they have had no fever for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication
  • 24 hours after starting antibiotics
  • 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our students healthy while at school!
